A note from Alain

My favourite way of wearing ALPHA 02 is to hang it straight after the wash on a large hanger, shape it a little and let it dry. This way, the shirt retains a natural crisp and some folds that are pleasing come summer time. Match with blazer, bomber jacket, cargo pants or jeans, the shirt is truly versatile. Perfect for work, the beach or your next date.

To give your shirt a good and long life please follow these simple guidelines:
  • Avoid dry cleaning: it can halve a shirt lifetime.
  • Prefer machine wash at 40°C. Go up to 60°C (white only) if absolutely necessary. No bleach please. Wash similar colors together.
  • Prefer natural drying (on a hanger), avoid tumble dry. This will preserve fibres and ensure your garment lasts longer.
  • Medium iron, medium to little steam. Choose cotton program if you have one.

A lasting shirt starts with robust fabrics and materials.

We chose a 100% US PIMA cotton with a weight of 116g/m² which makes it an excellent option all year long. It is certified OEKOTEX.

The fabric is two-ply, meaning plied spun yarns have been used in both weaving directions.

2-ply is seen as a hallmark of quality and is known to avoid the fabric pilling often occurring on single-ply fabrics. The end result is a crisp and smooth feel, a tighter weave and a slightly more natural stretch and give.

A lasting shirt starts with robust fabrics and materials.

The originality of this specific fabric lies in the cloud-like softness that out of the brushing of the fabric.

At 145g/m², this fabric remains medium weight and can be worn in most weathers but can also be transformed into an overshirt, layering it over a crisp white tee for a look that's effortlessly cool.

The fabric is highly traceable and yarn dyed to guarantee an extra longevity to colours.

The fabric is easy care and will gladly welcome repeated wears without washing. It feels solid and is super comfortable.

A lasting shirt starts with robust fabrics and materials.

The thicker of the three fabrics on offer, this 220g/m² twill fabric that is halfway between a shirt and an overshirt remains crisp and fresh. It is 100% cotton and soft on the skin.

Here too, layering it over a crisp white tee will make a perfect a more casual outfit.

The colour is absolutely sublime and will lighten your wardrobe.

The fabric is easy care, feels solid and comfy, like a small armor you will never want to leave.

Shaped facings for a collar that stays still

One of our defining features, shaped facings are the secret behind our impeccable collar structure. With their precise design, they ensure that the collar stays tall and firm, maintaining its shape no matter what.

Starting below the chest and running up to the neckline, these facings outline a sleek V-shape that adds an extra touch of elegance to the shirt. It's the kind of high-end finish that sets our shirts apart from the rest.

A cuff like no other

The cuff of the GOSSUIN shirt bears a unique and distinctive hallmark - a scalloped edge that delicately curves around the thumb, allowing for an effortless placement of the cuff on the wrist.

This is the GOSSUIN signature.

A sleeve designed with movement in mind

Our sleeve design is not your ordinary sleeve. Instead of the traditional placement below the wrist, our sleeve placket gracefully sits on the outside of the sleeve, in alignment with the little finger. A delicate stopstitch reinforces the placket at its most fragile spot No more carving your desk!

Crafted in two parts, our ergonomic sleeves draw inspiration from military wear, allowing for better drape and ease of movement.

Unlike mass-produced shirts, we sew our sleeves separately before attaching them to the body of the shirt, resulting in a seam mismatch at the armpit level. But the benefits are worth it: improved comfort, better arm mobility, and a high-end finish found only in bespoke and luxury garments.

Back in bias

Back fabric panels are cut and set in the bias (45 degrees angle with the weave line) and sewn together symmetrically across the central seam, forming a stunning "V" shape.

This ingenious technique provides an unmatched level of elasticity, comfort, and freedom of movement, making it possible to create 100% natural garments without man made fibers.

This technique is a hallmark of a GOSSUIN creation and has been used for virtually all shirts created so far.

A better bottom

The hemline of the shirt is designed to create a sleek and stylish silhouette. The straight bottom is accented by a subtle curve at the back, while the front is elegantly curved, creating a unique and modern look.

To ensure the durability of this design, we reinforced the hem junction with a stop-stitch. This technique adds strength to the hemline without the need for unsightly hem gussets that you may see on other shirts.

The result is a clean and polished finish that elevates the overall look of the shirt.

Locked-up buttons

We commissioned custom real mother-of-pearl (sand, mineral gray) and river shell (white) buttons that elevate the style of the shirt.

To ensure that the buttons remain secure and easy to fasten, we used lockstitches and a special thermo-fusible thread that wraps around the shank of each button.

The result is a durably secured and easy to fasten button, providing a high-end finish to the shirt. This technique is widespread in bespoke shirt tailoring and luxury items.

The last buttonhole on the central button placket is positioned horizontally to help maintain the bottom of the shirt in place against the hip when the shirt is tucked in.

Traceability

We fight for people to own less but better garments.

To guide you on that path, we promise to clearly tell you what we know and what we don't at every step of garment making process.

Environmental impact

Let's be clear, manufacturing new garments will always impact the environment.

That said, by measuring it, we can identify how to gradually reduce it on every new creation.

This is the impact of producing one ALPHA 02 shirt.

  • 3.8 kg

    of emitted CO2 equivalent

    Or ~39km by car.

  • 52 MJ

A true classic

The ALPHA shirt is a timeless classic and GOSSUIN's best-selling piece to date. If we trust all of the inquiries over the recent month, this is also one of the most awaited.

What sets it apart is the unique collar design that adds a touch of sophistication to any outfit, while still being versatile enough to go with anything in your wardrobe.

The style is so versatile that it will look effortlessly cool in pretty much any fabric you could think of. Universality at its best. This is what we wanted to show with the two new fabrics that all bring a distinctive identity to the shirt.

Cutting edges

When something is already near perfect, it's best not to change it too much. That's why we kept the same classic design for the ALPHA 02 with one minor adjustment.

We adjusted the cut slightly, giving it more ease at the chest, waist, and hip areas for a comfortable fit that remains adjusted and not baggy.

We must say we love the end result. Will you ?

Wear responsibly.

It took many people to bring ALPHA 02 to the world. This section is dedicated to them.
