A note from Alain
I really love the versatility of this shirt. After it was first ironed, you can wear it for many days (with a t-shirt underneath) without even thinking about it. It sure is casual but remains an original piece that people will notice. The fabrics on the thicker end also convey a sense of comfort and sturdiness that I personally enjoy. Wear without moderation.- Avoid dry cleaning: it can halve a shirt lifetime.
- Prefer machine wash at 30°C to 40°C. No bleach please. Wash similar colors together.
- Prefer natural drying (on a hanger), avoid tumble dry. This will preserve fibres and ensure your garment lasts longer.
- Medium iron, medium to little steam. Choose cotton program if you have one. Test

A lasting shirt starts with robust fabrics and materials.
We chose a 100% cotton white Oxford fabric with a weight of 190g/m² which places it midway between a classic casual shirt and an overshirt. A white Oxford shirt is the essential every man needs in his wardrobe.
The fabric is highly traceable and yarn dyed to guarantee extra longevity to the colour.
The fabric is easy care and will gladly welcome repeated wears without washing. It feels solid and is super comfortable.
A lasting shirt begins with the right materials.
We selected a 99% cotton velvet with a touch of elastane, a dense 280 g/m² fabric originally designed for trousers, which Alain cleverly repurposed into the ultimate velvet overshirt. Soft, generous, and beautifully structured, it drapes with ease while remaining remarkably comfortable.
Its production is fully traceable, from yarn to dyeing, ensuring consistency and integrity at every step.
Easy to care for, the fabric handles repeated wears without needing frequent washing. It feels solid, reassuring, and effortlessly pleasant against the skin.
A lasting shirt begins with the right fabric.
For HELLENICE 02, we selected a 100% cotton, 220 g/m² fabric, a weight that sits perfectly between a classic casual shirt and a light overshirt.
The Worker Blue shade is particularly compelling: deep, rich, and full of character. Over time, the fabric naturally develops a subtle sheen, revealing a patina that is entirely its own.
Easy to care for and designed for repeated wear, it feels reassuringly solid while staying exceptionally comfortable.
A lasting shirt begins with the right fabric.
For this edition of HELLENICE 02, we selected a 168 g/m² brushed cotton tartan with a distinct alpine spirit, and it happens to be Alain’s favourite. Lightweight in the hand yet warm in attitude, it sits naturally between a mid-season shirt and a mountain-inspired layer.
The Olive Beige Tartan blends muted greens, soft beiges and deep charcoal lines. The result is a pattern that feels both heritage and modern, with colours that echo winter landscapes, wooden cabins and crisp mountain air, while remaining easy to wear in the city.
The brushed finish gives the fabric a soft, enveloping touch. With time, the tones mellow and settle, revealing character and a gentle patina specific to brushed cotton flannel.
The fabric is easy to care for and handles repeated wear with ease. It feels warm, comfortable and reassuringly soft.
A good shirt begins with a fabric that carries both comfort and character.
For this edition of HELLENICE 02, we chose a 100% cotton tartan, a light 130 g/m² brushed fabric. Despite its lightness, it has the presence and warmth you expect from a heritage pattern, making it ideal for autumn.
The Orange Brown Tartan blends soft creams with warm oranges and grounded charcoal lines. The palette feels inviting and expressive, with a subtle vintage energy that suits both casual and more deliberate outfits. It brings colour without shouting and pairs effortlessly with denim, earthy neutrals or winter layers.
The brushed finish gives the fabric a gentle, comforting touch. With wear, the tones soften slightly and the surface develops a lived-in depth that is unique to brushed cotton.

The Rounded Point Signature
A well-balanced collar is essential, and we spend considerable time perfecting its proportions so it looks clean, confident and always sits correctly.
This version uses a medium-stiff construction with rounded points that give the shirt a relaxed, easygoing character. Collar stays are included if you ever want to wear it in a slightly more formal way.
The patch pocket mirrors the rounded shape of the collar points and the cuffs. It is fully functional and secured with its own mother-of-pearl button.

Scalloped cuff
The cuff is gently scalloped at the base of the thumb to sit naturally on the wrist and make the shirt easier to wear.
This detail is part of the GOSSUIN signature and reflects our ongoing focus on comfort through precise design.

A Sleeve Designed for Natural Movement
Our sleeve placket sits on the outer side of the wrist, aligned with the little finger rather than placed underneath in the traditional way. This position is more intuitive and avoids friction when working at a desk. A reinforcing stopstitch secures the placket at its most delicate point.
The sleeve is cut in two separate pieces, a construction often found in military garments. This approach improves the drape of the arm and follows natural movement more closely.
Each sleeve is assembled independently before being attached to the body, a technique usually reserved for luxury or bespoke garments. This creates a small offset at the underarm seam, which is intentional and increases comfort by reducing bulk in the armhole.

A Back Cut on the Bias
The back panels are cut on the bias, placed at a 45-degree angle to the weave, then sewn together in a perfectly symmetrical V shape along the centre seam.
This construction brings natural elasticity to a 100 percent cotton shirt and allows greater comfort and freedom of movement without relying on stretch fibres.
Cutting the back on the bias has become a defining GOSSUIN hallmark. It is one of the techniques we return to again and again, and it has shaped the spirit of almost every shirt we have created so far.

A Better Hemline
The bottom of the shirt is straight, with a gentle curve at the back and a more pronounced curve at the front. Both panels meet at the same height, creating a clean geometric junction at the hem.
This junction is reinforced with a stopstitch for strength and durability. We choose this approach instead of using hem gussets, which are common in the industry but visually less refined.

Locked-In Buttons
We use custom real mother-of-pearl buttons developed specifically for this shirt, chosen for their depth, sheen and refined presence.
Each button is attached with a lockstitch. A filament wrapped under tension around the shank is then secured with a thermo-fusible thread that holds the structure firmly in place.
The result is a button that stays put, fastens easily and delivers a finish usually found only in luxury or bespoke shirts.
The final buttonhole on the front placket is positioned horizontally to help keep the bottom of the shirt anchored at the hip when the shirt is tucked in.

We fight for people to own less but better garments.
To guide you on that path, we promise to clearly tell you what we know and what we don't at every step of garment making process.

A name that endures
HELLENICE takes its name from Hellé Nice, the pioneering French racing driver of the 1930s who combined elegance with audacity. The rounded shapes that define the collar, pocket and cuffs echo the softer lines of the racing cars she drove. HELLENICE 02 does not replace the first edition. It carries the same identity into a new chapter.
Created for the colder season
HELLENICE 02 was imagined for autumn and winter, when the air cools and layering becomes instinctive. It feels at home in mountain light, warm interiors and weekend escapes, yet remains easy to wear in the city. The cut is the same as HELLENICE 01, but the atmosphere shifts to a quieter, warmer and more grounded mood.
Seasonal fabrics with depth
For this second edition, the fabrics define the garment. Brushed cottons with texture and softness, tartans with character and colours that pair naturally with denim, knitwear and wool coats. Olive Beige Tartan, Orange Brown Tartan, optical white, velvet cream and Worker Blue each offer a different atmosphere, from alpine to heritage to understated everyday.
HELLENICE 02 was made to follow you through the colder months, from mornings outside to evenings inside.
Wear responsibly.
It took many people to bring HELLENICE 02 to the world. This section is dedicated to them.
